Maasai Village Cultural Immersion Experience
Kenya · 1 Days / 0 Nights
Tour Overview
Spend a full day inside a traditional Maasai manyatta in Kajiado, just outside Nairobi. Milk cattle, learn beadwork from Maasai women, walk with an elder to discover traditional medicines, watch the adumu (jumping dance), and share a meal of nyama choma. This is real Maasai daily life — not a tourist show.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Nairobi to Maasai Village (Kajiado)
Early morning pick-up from your Nairobi hotel. Scenic 1.5-hour drive through the Rift Valley escarpment to a traditional Maasai boma in Kajiado.
Welcome Ceremony & Village Tour
Arrive at the manyatta. Welcome song and blessing by the village elder. Guided walk through the homestead — learn how the enkaj (hut) is built from dung, mud, and sticks, and how the boma is laid out for cattle safety.
Daily Activities Participation
Join the Maasai women in milking cattle and fetching water. Participate in a beadwork session — learn the meaning behind each color and pattern. Try your hand at making a beaded bracelet to take home.
Traditional Medicine Walk
Bush walk with a Maasai elder who explains the medicinal plants used for common ailments — fever, wounds, digestive issues, and more. Learn how the Maasai have lived off the land for centuries.
Adumu & Shared Meal
Watch (and join!) the famous adumu — the Maasai jumping dance. Listen to traditional songs and stories. Share a meal of nyama choma (roasted meat) and ugali with the community. Farewell and drive back to Nairobi, arriving by early evening.
